Code of Conduct

In addition to our terms and conditions, this page outlines the code of conduct, which applies to all members.

You must ensure that the information you give us and members about you is accurate and current, and that your public profile is a true representation of you.

Writers are responsible for the accuracy of the materials they post, and we do not take responsibility for any errors, defects, mistakes etc.

Writers submitting their work for publication on Pen48 undertake that they are the sole owner of the copyright of the material posted.

We reserve the right to remove without notice any material that is reported to us as breaching someone’s copyright and to block authors from submitting further material without notice.

Copyright on all content submitted by authors remains the property of the author. You must NEVER copy, publish, pass on to others, sell, share or perform any materials on Pen48 without the express permission of the author.

We may at our sole discretion reject material that we consider overtly threatening, defamatory, obscene, indecent, offensive, pornographic, abusive, liable to incite racial hatred, discriminatory, menacing, scandalous, inflammatory, blasphemous, in breach of confidence, in breach of privacy or which may cause undue annoyance or inconvenience.

However, we respectfully ask readers to remember that Pen48 is a community for adult writers and readers and a space where creativity should be allowed to thrive. We ask that you read materials with an open and inquisitive mind, and with respect for the writers' rights to explore ideas and the full scope of their imaginations.

Events and the Pen48 Coffee Club:

You may have the opportunity to organise or attend community events, including branches of the Pen48 Coffee Club designed to provide an opportunity for members to share their work, review the work of others, and share constructive feedback.

Spaces on all events are limited, and attendance is subject to availability. If you so reserve a space on any event and are then unable to attend, we respectively ask that you cancel your booking so that your space can be made available to others.

All views expressed by attendees are their own. We will not be held liable for advice given, or views expressed, by anyone at an event or in any documentation. However, we expect community events to adhere to the values and principles of Pen48. If you witness any inappropriate or unfair behaviour in any event you attend, you should report it to the organiser and/or us immediately. You can contact us at [email protected]

We reserve the right to refuse entry to any event from anyone who does not comply, at our sole discretion, with our code of conduct.

Feedback and Comments:

Pen48 has been created to build a supportive community of readers and authors. We want to motivate aspiring writers to write more and develop their skills.

Feedback should be constructive.

We will remove comments that are reported to us as offensive, defamatory, abusive obscene, inflammatory etc. and reserve the right to block members without notice who post such comments.

We may terminate your membership at any time by giving written notice to you immediately and without refund if you breach this code of conduct or of our terms in line with our full terms and conditions. In the event of cancellation of membership by us, or you, no refunds for any unused portion of the membership term will be given.
