The Song

Whenever I do anything

repetitive or otherwise

I hum a tuneless melody.

In sunshine or rain

I sing that sad refrain

And annoying my old lady.

I remember none of the words

And realise I sing off-key.

My wife knows not what I’m humming:

"Try one of the hits,

That song gets on my tits!

And now you’re ‘air guitar’ strumming!”

It was ‘naughty noughties’ music

That suddenly rang me a bell

On Chris Moyles’ Radio X.

Surrounded by flak,

The Missus gave me a smack,

"That’s ‘the song’ of you and your ex!"
